The Friendship Tour team is now in London where they will spend a few more days before proceeding to Ireland.. The team, bringing ‘Bahrain on Wheels’ to Europe, reached Britain last week after driving through Italy, Switzerland, France, Belgium and Holland.
Tour team leader Ali Mushaima, travel-guide publisher, said they are arranging meetings with different groups while in London. They also hope to meet with officials from the Bahrain embassy in the UK. Throughout their stops in different cities, the team is promoting Bahrain as a tourism site to many people. They have also met several Bahrainis and former Bahrain residents now based in Europe. The team is travelling in a Mitsubishi four-wheel drive. The team left Bahrain on June 22 taking off from the Bahrain International Circuit. The team includes Mushaima, Danish students Martin Joergensen and Christine Pagel, and American Deirdre Fitzgerald. The team hopes to be in Denmark later this month where they will climax their cross-continent tour with a Bahrain Day in Aarhus, one of Denmark’s major cities. The Bahrain Day in Denmark also pays tribute to the contributions made by Danish archaeologists to the discovery of the Dilmun civilisation half a century ago. The group will also proceed to Austria, Hungary and then to Italy where they plan to end the trip at Monza Grand Prix circuit race in September. Supporting the team in their journey are the BIC, the Ministry of Information, MTC-Vodafone, Gulf Air, Zayani Motors, Bahrain Petroleum Company and the five-star hotels.
