The San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau (San Diego CVB), which promotes and markets San Diego County as a vacation destination and convention site, is moving its headquarters to the Irvine Company’s Symphony Towers in the heart of Downtown.
San Diego CVB is leasing 20,000 square feet of office space at Symphony Towers, one of the Financial District’s premier locations just minutes from the San Diego Convention Center, Petco Park and Balboa Park.
A move to Symphony Towers is set for August. San Diego CVB is relocating from a 14,000-square-foot retail building in Little Italy, where it has been for the past five years.
San Diego CVB looked elsewhere in Downtown and in University Towne Centre before selecting Symphony Towers, according to Joe Terzi, president and CEO. The location stands to help San Diego CVB in its mission of bringing visitors to San Diego County, he said.
Symphony Towers offered San Diego CVB premier office space with access to amenities such as the University Club Atop Symphony Towers, San Diego’s renowned private social and business club.
“Symphony Towers is maintained and run as a first-class building,” Terzi said. “We do bring in and entertain people to get them to hold meetings here, so having the University Club is a great way to showcase San Diego County as a premier destination.”
Working with the Irvine Company on a lease that made economic sense for San Diego CVB, a non-profit run on behalf of members, could not have been easier, according to Terzi.
“We are happy to welcome the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau to Symphony Towers,” said John Turner, San Diego regional vice president for Irvine Company Office Properties. “It’s fitting that a group that represents San Diego to the world should be in a world-class office building that represents San Diego.”
