Desert Nights Camp was inaugurated on December 12, 2007 at the Camp in Al Wasil. An exclusive gathering comprising Ministry officials, key business dignitaries and members of the media attended the event, which began early in the morning in a beautiful Bedouin style tent outside the main gates of the Camp. Mr. Maqbool bin Hameed Al Saleh, Chairman, OHI Group welcomed all the invitees. Her Excellency Dr. Rajiha Abdul Amir inaugurated the Camp and expressed her appreciation for this tourism initiative. The group was then taken on a guided tour of the Camp, with Omani music and folk dancers creating an air of festivity.
Desert Nights Camp comprises of several Bedouin-style tents, fully air-conditioned, with bedrooms, attached bath and a cozy sit-out. All the tents open out to panoramic vistas across the golden sands. And for those who can detach themselves from such luxury, there are activities galore. Clients can take a desert safari and go dune-bashing. Wadi Bani Khalid, is one of Oman's most beautiful spots. As the day deepens into dusk, guests can sit around the campfire for a 'Shuwa' or Omani lamb barbecue, an event in itself.
