Reethi Beach Resort going for the gold in Maldives

www.eTurboNews.com

The Republic of Maldives is an island nation in the Indian Ocean formed by a double chain of 26 atolls stretching in a north-south direction, about 435 miles southwest of Sri Lanka. There are some 1,192 islets, around 200 inhabited, spread over 90,000 square kilometers of ocean.

Situated on the western atoll chain is Baa Atoll, where Reethi Beach Resort is nestled amidst lush vegetation on the

northeast of the atoll on tiny Fonimagoodhoo Island. Only 15 percent of the land area is built upon this island that measures just 600 x 200 meters, with the resort shaded by graceful palm trees, surrounded by a white sandy beach and lagoon of crystal clear water, with a beautiful house reef just 30 to 100 meters from shore. The reefs of this atoll are in pristine condition, the fish life is dazzling, and whether you are a diver or snorkeler, the unspoiled beauty of the underwater life is readily apparent.

The management and staff of Reethi Beach Resort are committed to the maintenance of a sustainable, eco-friendly environment, continually aiming to improve conservation policies. It is the resort’s ambition to provide guests with memorable experiences and a desire to return again and again.

Reethi Beach Resort was the first to obtain a silver rating in the Maldives by Travelife and is waiting for the official results that the resort will be the first to receive gold after Travelife’s last audit of the resort.

At ITB, the resort officially received The Holiday Check Award for being one of the 99 most popular hotels among its readers, and the Five-Leaf System, which gauges eco performances of hotels and tour operators, has awarded Reethi Beach the highest possible rank of 5 Leafs, recognizing the efforts that the resort has put into sustainability and industry best practices.

The resort recently broke its own record for having 110 repeating guests at the same time. Resort guests, Bernhard and Claudia from Baden-Wuerttemberg, visited Reethi Beach for the first time in 2007. Since then they've returned every year to stay for at least two weeks. In 2010, Bernhard and Claudia even visited Reethi Beach a second time that year.

They loved snorkeling and relaxing on the beach and always looked forward to having a drink or two during the beautiful Maldivian sunset at the Sunset Bar. Bernhard is also a passionate diver, and the well-equipped Dive Center was another reason for him to return to the resort.

The couple liked the friendly atmosphere of Reethi Beach Resort and the attentive staff, and they are happy to say: “Every year it feels like coming home.

“This was our 7th visit, and we already looking forward to the 8th at Reethi Beach.”
