www.chnpress.com After three seasons of archeological studies, the underground city of Nooshabad will be open to the public during Norouz (Persian New Year) Holidays, starting from March 21.
Announcing this news, Ansarifar, secretary of Nooshabad’s Association of Cultural Heritage Supporters, told CHN: “This underground city is constructed in three stories and will open up to tourists by the end of the current season of excavations.” He also said that several parts of this underground city have now been made ready to host for Norouz visitors.
The underground city of Nooshabad is one of the wonders of Nooshabad and dates back to the Islamic period (651 AD onward). Archeologists working at this underground city have found a number of rooms and corridors at a depth of 13 meters (40 feet) below the ground.
According to Ansarifar, some facilities such as a teahouse in the first floor of this underground city have been prepared to welcome visitors and tour guides will be stationed at Nooshabad to explain some historic facts about this stunning underground city.
Tourists will enter from one of the entrances and after visiting the lower floors, use the water reservoirs to exit.
Nooshabad is situated 8 kilometers far from Kashan, 260 kilometers south of Tehran. |
