Tehran Times: Iran is planning to add 14 new airliners to its fleet in the next Iranian calendar year (to start March 21, 2007), announced Head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) Hossein Khanlari .
In line with the requests from domestic airline companies for the purchase of new airliners and the endorsement of the idea by the Minister of Roads and Transportation Mohammad Rahmati, CAO has agreed with the purchase of 14 new aircraft for the nation’s air transportation fleet, Khanlari told a news conference.
Commenting on the beginning of the second phase of the construction operations at Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKIA), the official said that the issue was top on the organization’s agenda, adding that measures were being taken to turn the airport into a regional transportation hub. He added, “By employing modern radar control equipment, IKIA authorities are taking significant steps toward improvement of safety of the flights.†|
