Tourism Tops Qatar's Investments In Turkey

turkishnews.com Qatari First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hamad bin Jasim bin Jabir al-Thani said that tourism area is at the top of Qatar's list of investments in Turkey.

Al-Thani added that they envisage to make investments in Turkey worth of 2-4 billion USD.

Al-Thani and accompanying delegation met the Union of Chambers of Commerce (TOBB) Chairman Rifat Hisarciklioglu and deputy chairman Zafer Caglayan in Ankara.

Al-Thani told reporters that they need to make examinations and researches about investing in Turkey, adding that they are especially interested in tourism area in Turkey and then transportation, communication, technology and agriculture areas.

Noting that Turkey is an important bridge between Europe and eastern countries, al-Thani said that there are many Turkish companies in Qatar especially in construction area. He added that they want to establish cooperation in investment area both in Turkey and Qatar. He noted that trade volume between Turkey and Qatar is very low and they have to exert efforts to increase this volume.

Meanwhile, Caglayan said, ''we appreciate Qatar which has a rapid and stable development in Gulf region. We believe that a more active period will start in commercial and economic relations between Turkey and Qatar.''

''We attach importance to development of commercial and economic relations between Qatar and Turkey, the two active members of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC). Construction, banking and tourism are the basic sectors where we can cooperate,'' he added.

Caglayan said, ''TOBB supports activities to establish Turkish-Qatari business council. We also expect this council to fulfill concrete projects.''

On the other hand, Hisarciklioglu said that they envisage investment projects in Qatar worth of 120 billion USD within 5 years.
