Ethiopia Working With Egypt In Promoting Tourist Attractions

The Ethiopian Herald.  Ethiopia would work in cooperation with Egypt to promote its tourist attractions and boost the income obtained from the sector, Minister of Culture and Tourism Ambassador Mohammed Drir said after a recent visit to Egypt.

Ethio-Egypt friendship and relationship is strengthened more than ever before. He emphasised.

The relationship has further been consolidated following the signing of agreements in trade, agriculture, culture and tourism sectors by the Ethio-Egypt Joint Ministerial Council, he added.

According to the minister, the two countries would therefore work jointly in exchanging information and sharing experiences to promote the splendid historical heritages they have so as to increase their income from the sector.

Ethiopia is trying to gain experiences from Egypt, which has been securing up to three billion US dollars annually, he said, adding that the ministry is now ready to promote the unique attractions of the country by distributing magazines, videos and CDs in the airlines of both countries.

Entrepreneurs and professionals working in the sector would in particular be encouraged to exchange experiences on the joint tourism promotion agreement and emphasis has been given to improve the performance of the sector.

In a related development, a project that focuses on incorporating the culture and life style of the people of Konso to the sustainable poverty reduction project of the World Tourism Organization has received acceptance at the recently held meeting of the organization, he stated.
