www.thegreatsilkroad.com The government of Armenia approved the Tourism Development Programme for the year of 2007.

The main target of the programme is to develop tourism in the country, to improve quality of tourist services, to create tourist products which can meet the international tourism standards and with which can be offered in the international tourist market.

The programme provides for increase in number of tourists visiting Armenia by 20-22 percent, with target figure for the year of 2007 to be 400 thousand tourists. To accomplish this task there were worked out a number of measures on improving the system of promotion and marketing research.

 One of the first steps in implementing the programme was the announcement of town of Tsakhkadzor a tourist centre.
