Australia's Gold Coast Prepares to Offer Iftar Options This Ramadan

Middle Eastern visitors will be delighted to learn that this year during Ramadan, Australia’s Gold Coast will celebrate the Holy Month with a dedicated Evening Lounge for fasting guests to congregate each evening and has launched the Muslim Visitors Guide.

Australia’s Gold Coast is renowned for its multicultural tastes and delicacies but is also gaining notoriety for the art of making foreign visitors feel welcome.   Middle Eastern visitors will be delighted to learn that this year during Ramadan, the Gold Coast will celebrate the Holy Month with a dedicated Evening Lounge for fasting guests to congregate each evening and has launched the Muslim Visitors Guide.

Halal certified eateries stretch the length and breadth of the coastal city and are complemented by in-house eating establishments within all the major hotels and theme park outlets which represent just some of the 600 plus restaurants and cafes available throughout the City.

“Dining is an experience to be enjoyed and through the cataloguing of a dedicated Gold Coast Muslim Visitors Guide we’ve ensured a one stop shop for visitors to peruse all Halal certified options available throughout the city.

“Also included in the guide that is freely available at major travel agencies throughout the Middle East, are the most accommodating Gold Coast attractions and hotels that can cater to the religious requirements of our valued visitors.”

Mr Price highlights the proactive role of the Islamic Society of the Gold Coast, who can assist providing advice on any specific requirements. Visitors are encouraged to visit www.goldcoastislam.com.au in advance of their stay.

Given Ramadan falls within the main holiday period for Middle Eastern visitors this year and for the coming few years, there has been a major focus on ensuring this important occasion is catered for.

In 2010 there is the vital acquisition of an evening lounge at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Surfers Paradise. This facility is offered free of charge for use by local and visiting muslims to gather and meet following traditional fasting during the holy Ramadan period. Within the lounge facility, a range of Iftar food and beverage plus shisha pipes will be available in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. English and Arabic versions of the Gold Coast Muslim Visitors Guide are also available.

The Gold Coast is proud to be the playground of choice for Middle Eastern families and we look forward to providing the most hospitable and carefree time for all,” added Mr Price.

The Gold Coast offers the greatest assortment of theme parks in the southern hemisphere, 70 kilometres of pristine coastline, 100,000 hectares of world heritage listed rainforest, numerous private islands plus more than 600 restaurants and cafes.

For Middle Eastern visitors in particular, there really is no better place to plan your next holiday or short term getaway.
