Day 1
A private limousine will pick you up in Zurich either at the airport, train station or your hotel and an approx. 1 hrs 15 minutes drive will take you to Unterwasser in Canton St. Gallen. Upon arrival checkin at the hotel and enjoy a refreshing welcome drink.
Our Toggenburg Experience Representative will guide you through the program for the next days.
If you arrive early enough and weather permits you might want to start your alpine stay with a cable car to the ChÙ†serrugg (2252 meters above sea level) and and enjoy the spectacular panoramic view of the Swiss and Austrian mountain range.
Welcome-Dinner is served in the hotel.
Day 2
Enjoy your Swiss Buffet Breakfast. Ready for your first discovery?
Our Toggenburg Experience Representative will pick you up at the hotel and an approximately 45-minute drive takes you to Bad Ragaz, an elegant Victorian Spa with a long tradition as a health spa presenting imposing hotels and parks. In the city centre of Bad Ragaz you´ll find numerous elegant shops, cosy cafés and restaurants. Maybe you wish to take a treatment in the Ancient Thermal Baths before visiting the Cloister Museum and Castle?
Enroute back to Unterwasser you´ll see Heidiland, the setting of Johanna Spyri’s classic story of a Swiss mountain girl and her grandfather, a tale that has captivated generations of readers throughout the world.
Our excursion will continue to Liechtenstein, the small alpine country landlocked between
Switzerland and Austria. It´s the last remnant of the Holy Roman Empire and an indepentent state with close ties to Switzerland. It enjoys a hour last stop today will be at the Zwingli House in Wildhaus, the neighbouring village of Unterwasser,now a museum dedicated to the 15th century Zurich reformer, Huldrych Zwingli ( 1484 - 1531 ).
Early afternoon return to Unterwasser and before dinner, enjoy the pure nature, overwhelming green landscapes and a spectacular Alpine scenery.
In the evening our Dine-Around-Arrangement offers you a choice of restaurants for your dinner. A table will be reserved.
Day 3
Ready to discover Germany and Austria?
After Breakfast our Toggenburg Experience Representative will pick you up and after less than 1 hour drive you´´ll arrive in Bregenz in Austria. Vorarlberg’s capital Bregenz is delightfully located at Lake Constance, Central Europe’s third largest lake, offering a dense cultural program and a wide range of outdoor activities. PfÙ†nder, the local mountain at 1064m, offers impressive panorama views, while the pleasure boat excursions offer a unique opportunity to view the city and mountains from a different perceptive. The centerpiece of the 2000 year old city at the eastern shores of Lake Constance is the bulbous, Baroque Martinsturm [St. Martin’s Tower] located in the medieval center of town.Your excurison will continue to Lindau in Germany. Lindau's famous harbour, which is still regarded today as the most attractive anywhere on Lake Constance, was completed in 1856. Here you will find simply everything in a region, which we believe to be the most beautiful end corner of
Germany. Discover, experience and enjoy it yourself.
Only a few kilometers away lies Friedrichshafen on the shores of Lake Constance in the south of Germany. It is not only known for being a tourist resort but also as the home of the Zeppelin airships.
Let yourself be enchanted by promenading along the boardwalk, one of the prettiest and longest of its kind around Lake Constance. Enjoy an Apple Strudel with a spectacular view of the lake as well as of the Austrian and Swiss Alps! Visit the castle church and the estuary of the Rotach.
From Friedrichshafen we´ll cross Lake Constance (Bodensee) by ferry boat - a wonderful
approximately 50 minutes sailing, which we´ll bring you back to Switzerland at the opposite side of the lake. From here it´s only a short drive back to Unterwasser.
In the evening our Toggenburg Experience Representative will take you to a typical Swiss Fondue Dinner in a charming mountain mountain hut.
Day 4
Good Bye Unterwasser!
Our Toggenburg Experience Representative will transfer you back to Zurich.
However, before leaving we suggest to take a leisurely stroll to see the spectacular Thur Waterfall, only 15 minutes walking distance from your hotel or visit Klangwelt - a unique world of sounds and sound wellness or enjoy the many other sportive or relaxing options available. Experience and produce your own music with tone objects you have neither seen nor heard of before such as the bell bath and the bell stage, the flute fence and many more.
Wish to extend your stay in Unterwasser?
There are still many things to do, such as for instance: Interested to see where the famous Appenzell cheese is being made? A very scenic drive of approximately 45-minute drive will take you to Appenzell and the UNESCO World Heritage City St. Gallen.
The small town of Appenzell lies in a picturesque, hilly landscape. It is the political, economical and cultural hub of the smallest of the Swiss cantons: Appenzell Innerrhoden. The smart alleyways with their numerous small shops invite you to stroll and enjoy leisurely shopping. Houses adorned with many murals are a characteristic of the region. The Appenzell Museum in the town hall and the Im Blauen Haus [In the blue house] private museum exhibit a cross-section of local history and culture.Since 1983, the Abbey District of St.Gallen belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
St.Gallen has also achieved fame in the fields of textiles, university and architecture. In St.Gallen
shopping is fun, whether it is for magical antiques, exclusive art and art handicraft, the newest fashion or simply a present for a beloved one - You will definitely take more with you back home than just a lasting impression.
