Bahrain Tribune 4 April, 2004 The Prime Minister, Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, yesterday highlighted the benefits
that Bahrain could reap from hosting the Formula One race, explaining that the global event was not confined to racing fans, but included investors from all over the world who would be interested in setting up businesses.
Addressing a number of citizens, officials, religious and community leaders who had come to greet him at his court, Shaikh Khalifa said that the event had given Bahrain an outstanding opportunity to show the world its development and great potential.
Investments and the tourism sector will also witness the boom via the hosting of the race, he said. Shaikh Khalifa stressed that the security and stability Bahrain enjoyed would have a positive effect in the success of the international sporting event, adding that the world was waiting for the start of the race. This would, in turn, help bolster Bahrain’s image and prove its modern status and showcase the ability of the national cadres in professionally organising and managing the event.
