Kerala-31/ 12/ 04
It is now four days since the Tsunami wave attacked the Kerala coastline. Kerala was fortunate enough to overcome the incident with relatively less damage to property and life, unlike many other regions in South and South-East Asia. This is one favourable aspect that has prompted a good percentage of tourists already on various beaches of Kerala to observe the situation and to continue with their holiday plans without fear of further wave onslaughts; epidemic, transportation problems etc. The situation has also encouraged tourists bound for beach destinations, and other parts of Kerala to go ahead with their tour.
Those who have been displaced from their homes in the wake of Tsunami wave attack are now being rehabilitated, and all precautions have been taken as part of the relief measures. So far no loss of life to domestic or international tourists have been reported from any part of Kerala.
Beach-oriented tourism activities continue to be normal and additional lifeguards have been deployed across all beach destinations in the State. After observing caution for the past four days, all beaches in Kerala are now open to tourists without restrictions of any kind.
