Olive Co-operative has organised a unique students’ tour to Palestine. Participants will meet Palestinian students and key student organizations, as well as visiting a range of Palestinian universities, schools and dynamic youth projects in addition to sites of historical, religious and cultural interest.
A large part of the tour will be based in the beautiful city of Tulkarem in the northern part of the West Bank, allowing participants to gain a broad experience of the impact of the Occupation there. While the tour’s budget and itinerary have been designed with students in mind it is open to anyone who would like to take part.
Tour dates (13th -22nd june) coincide with the UK University summer holidays, a great chance to leave exams behind, with plenty of time after the tour to get a summer job or take on a volunteer or work placement in Palestine
The tour price includes your expert Olive Co-operative tour guide, local guides, airport taxis and all local transport, itinerary arrangements, bed, breakfast and dinner. Prices exclude flights which are between Ă‚ÂŁ250 and Ă‚ÂŁ350 from the UK. All itineraries are subject to change, depending on current local circumstances.
* Wednesday 13 June *Day 1.** Arrive. Make way to Ramallah/Jerusalem. Welcome and orientation. Free time to visit town centre.. Overnight in hotel in Ramallah/Jerusalem.
*Thursday 14th June *Day 2.** Visit to Bir Zeit University near Ramallah including meetings with students, lecturers and international activists, learning about projects in Bir Zeit University such as the ‘Right to Education’ campaign & youth exchange programmes. Overnight in Ramallah hotel.
*Friday 15th June *Day 3.** Meeting with Sharek, Youth Forum; an organization that promotes young people’s dynamic development through a plethora of innovative and vibrant methods and activities. Visit DCI: ‘Defence for Children International’ office in Rammallah. Overnight in Ramallah hotel.
*Saturday 16 June *Day 4.** Travel to Tulkarem. Possible meeting with a teacher’s trade union. Overnight in Tulkarem hotel or with Palestinian families.
*Sunday 17 June *Day 5.** Meeting with Dar *Qendil: Culture, Arts and Heritage youth centre. Visit to Tulkarem refugee camp and possible visit to UNRWA school in the refugee camp.
*Monday* 18 June *Day 6.** Visit to the Khadouri campus, meeting with ‘Windows for Peace’ or visit to a women’s group in Tulkarem. Overnight with Palestinian families, or in Tulkarem hotel
*Tuesday 19 June *Day 7.** Travel to Jenin. Visit to the American University in the village of Zababdeh near Jenin. Possible visit to Jenin refugee camp. Overnight in Tulkarem hotel or with Palestinian families.
*Wednesday 20 *June Day 8.** Option 1. Possible visit to Nablus including An-Najah University, the old city and Balata refugee camp. Meeting with international activists working in the area. Evaluation and debrief. Overnight in Bethlehem hotel.
Option 2. Visit to villages affected by the Separation Wall all near the city of Tulkarem. Meetings with locals and activists. Evaluation and debrief. Overnight in Bethlehem hotel
*Thursday 21 June *Day 9.** Optional free day in Jerusalem or/and Bethlehem. Overnight in Bethlehem hotel
