Kuwait-Islamic Tourism
The formation of a public committee to encourage tourism was announced by the Kuwaiti Information Minister, Mr. Mohammad Abdullah Abu Al-Hassan during the Kuwaiti Int’l Travel and Tourism Exhibition, which was held at the end of April, in the International Exhibition Centre. The private sector will participate in this committee which will be supported and supervised by the government, and will be charged with converting Kuwait into a tourist country aiming at foreign tourists and inter-Gulf tourism.
The Kuwaiti government is also working towards encouraging investment in the tourism sector, so that Kuwaiti citizens will spend their holidays at home instead of travelling abroad. The Information Minister pointed out that Kuwaiti beaches are considered one of the cleanest in the world. One of the distinguished exhibitors and a sponsor of the exhibition is Kuwaiti Airlines.
Mrs. Nabila Al-Anjari, the deputy assistant for tourism affairs in the Information Ministry, pointed out in her press conference in Dubai that the Kuwaiti government started a long term, 20-year plan to develop hotels, resorts and leisure centres for families, as well as concentrating on environmental tourism.
