Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) together with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in Sydney, Australia, recently held a joint 50th anniversary celebration to mark the establishment of both organizations. The celebration was attended by over 120 current, retired and ex-staff from Bangkok, Manila, Vila,Noumea, Brisbane, Perth and Melbourne
In addition, there were over 350 guests at the Northern Foyer of the Sydney Opera House, including, the Thai Ambassador, Consul-General of Thailand, airport authorities and local government plus senior representatives of travel agencies, trade media, cargo agents and staff. The guests were treated to an entertaining “in-flight safety video” informing guests that in an emergency “colourful party masks will drop from the ceiling” and “an emergency slide will drop from the side of the Opera House.”
The evening was led by the former presenter of the Great Outdoors, Andrew Daddoand, continued with a short film about THAI’s 50 year history and the many achievements. Mr. Karakot Chatasingha, Thai Airways International’s Australia General Manager, said THAI had played a vital role in helping promote tourism and trade in the past 50 years. With more than 20 million passengers carried by THAI, he said THAI was “proud to be part of the cementing of the strong economy and social relations of our nations.”
For the next 50 years, THAI would continue to strengthen its network across Asia and Europe, and will also continue to enhance its fleet and in-flight products such as food and beverage, and continue to grow its market share in Australia, where it currently has 65% |
