21st TTG TRAVEL AWARDS 2010

A total number of 48,300 nominations were received this year from TTG readers across the Asia-Pacific who participated in the print and online voting exercise for the Travel Awards. Based on these results, 25 new awardees emerged across various categories; acknowledged for their contributions and excellent products and services.

New winners include Hong Kong Disneyland for Best Theme Attraction, City of Dreams for the Best Integrated Resort and Harbour Plaza Hotels & Resorts under the Best Local Hotel Chain award categories. The most significant change is witnessed under the Resorts – Individual Property category where all four award winners are new from 2009.

More notably, Thai Airways International clinched two separate awards under Best Airline – Business Class and Best South-East Asian Airline. Similarly, Best Western International emerged yet again as winners with the Best Mid-Range Hotel Brand for Hotel Chains, and under the Outstanding Achievement Awards for Best Marketing and Development Effort.

TTG Asia Media’s Managing Director, Mr Darren Ng, said, “We need to be adaptable and flexible now, especially with the new kind of working environment the industry faces these days, while still managing to maintain a benchmark for exemplary standards of service and accessibility.”

On the same note, TTG’s editorial team handpicks the recipients of the Outstanding Achievement Awards for their noteworthy contributions and accomplishments to the industry. Conferred for the first time this year, CTC Travel received the Most Entrepreneurial Travel Company award; acknowledging them for their risk-taking and enterprising new business models that serve as a visionary model to the industry.

In addition, a new honorary member – SilkAir, who has won the Best Regional Airline award ten times, will be inducted into the Travel Hall of Fame, joining six other Travel Hall of Fame Honoraries in the Asia-Pacific.

Honoraries in the Travel Hall of Fame are conferred after having won the same award at least ten times at the TTG Travel Awards. The complete list of winners for the TTG Travel Awards 2010 is detailed in Annex A.

This year, between June and August, all readers of TTG Asia, TTG China, TTGmice, TTG-BTmice China, and ttgasia eDaily were invited to vote for their favourite travel and tourism organisations under the Travel Supplier and Travel Agent Awards Category. Spanning across four main categories, award titles consist of two voting, and two non-voting segments.

The 21st TTG Travel Awards 2010 Ceremony & Gala Dinner is held on the last day of Asia-Pacific’s foremost MICE and corporate travel events – IT&CMA and CTW, where more than 2,300 international attendees converged in one single location, to seek new products, services and resources through a series of breakout sessions, conferences, workshops and an exhibition.

An attendance of almost 700 esteemed travel trade professionals joined in to celebrate 77 of Asia-Pacific’s finest travel trade individuals and organisations for their outstanding work. The prestigious event was held at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld.
