According to a study made by ATOR Analytical Service the number of the air passengers increased, but the flights’ occupancy decreased.
The increase of the number of the passengers for international flights was noted in June. If to compare with June 2010 the passenger traffic increased by 10.2 % (2 936 000 passengers). In absolute value the growth of June in comparison with May 2011 amounted to 664 000 passengers (+30%).
As a result of the first 6 months of 2011, 10 871 000 passengers were transported. However, the flights’ occupancy decreased by 1.2% and amounted to 79.9%. According to ATOR analysts, the occupancy decreased due to the fact that supply exceeded the demand. An excess supply of the air transportation caused an unprecedented dumping among the operators. That’s why the flight programs have been reduced in August.
The number of the passengers of domestic flights increased by 11.3% in the first 6 months of the year and amounted to 14 209 000 people. The indicator of the flights’ occupancy decreased by 3% and amounted to 67.9%.
The TOP 5 air companies remained the same: Aeroflot (6 240 000 passengers, with the growth of 22.3%), Transaero with 3 444 000 passengers (+ 24%), UTair with 2 327 000 passengers (+10.2%), Sibir transported 2 245 000 people (+3.4%) and GTK Rossiya (1 485 000 with the growth of 8.6%).
