The sun is shining and the temperatures are rising: time for some refreshment! Today the participants of the region's 22nd triathlon accept the challenge in the first discipline: swimming 1.5 kilometres through Lake Zell. The lake's shores are the venue of Zell's Lake Festival, too, boasting dance performances, music, and the first 'Trachtenbootcup' race this weekend.
On 8th August Hochkultur continues in the Austrian tradition and brings talented musicians such as the members of the Johann Strauss Ensemble to Schmittenhöhe. One week later, the programme of the second Hochkultur weekend includes a theatre play and a painting workshop.
On 6th August the Bike Infection is kicking off in Kaprun and at the end of the month, the world's best parachutists will come to the region for the Parachute World Cup Series. Automobile fans should make a special note in their calendars on the weekend from 21st to 23rd August because that is when the smart times 2009 are taking place in Zell am See-Kaprun.
Diversified events take you to the lake's shore and back in time
Pleasant temperatures, lapping waves, and lots of entertainment: on the first weekend of August you will have a last opportunity to participate in the manifold activities of Zell's Lake Festivals. Saturday is kicking off with a morning get-together. The event's highlight is coming up on Sunday evening - brilliant fireworks will then be illuminating the sky above Zell am See and Kaprun. In addition, you can look forward to live music, dance performances, and culinary treats.
Of course, another great event is already waiting in the wings to succeed the Lake Festival. From 4th August all through the month the region invites its guests to the Music Summer Nights on Tuesday evenings. From 7.30 pm you can listen to the open-air concerts of many bands performing on the stages set up between the bars Our's and Havana in Zell am See. From emotional and dreamy to energetic and passionate: everyone is sure to find something to please their taste in music. Come and see for yourself!
The decision won't be an easy one to take: would you rather listen to live music or embark on a time travel to the Middle Ages? Tuesday, 4th August, boasts a second remarkable event: the organizers of the Castle Spectacle offer you the opportunity to cross the threshold of time-honoured Kaprun Castle together with knights and jugglers and get carried away by the unique atmosphere and the merry hustle and bustle of this annual Middle Ages spectacle.
