When "The Sound of Music" is performed on October 23 in the Salzburg County Theater, than it will be a true premiere: this musical which, together with the same-named film, shapes the picture of Salzburg and all of Austria to people from around the world even today, has never been placed on the program of a theater on the original location. During this performance series, the Trapp family will be included on many other locations throughout the city.

The Salzburg Museum in the New Residence on Mozartplatz have dedicated a special exhibition from November 4, 2011 to November 2012 to the true story of the Trapp family showing a comparison between the film myth and the reality. Original objectes owned by the family, documents and manuscripts give us an inside look into this "patchwork family" and make it live again, leading us from the Monarchy up to the present day, as the next generation continue to run the family enterprise - the Trapp Family Lodge in Vermont.
