Great Expectations From Eastern Mediterranean Travel Fair

Reed Exhibitions. Travel and Tourism in the Eastern Mediterranean region is developing at an impressive rate as more and more visitors flock to countries, such as Egypt, to take advantage of the climate, culture and resort leisure.
As a result of the growth of this market, this year's Mediterranean Travel Fair (MTF), held in Cairo in September, is expected to be the most successful ever.
International trade professionals attending the world renowned event will be able to discover more about the new services and facilities in the region at innovative stands and displays; as well as focus on Tunisia, which for the first time ever, will be feature country for the exhibition.
In the previous decade over eight million tourists have visited Egypt and World Trade and Tourism Council (WTTC) figures show that the market is growing by an impressive 6% every year.
Chris Chackal, Group Exhibitions Director for Reed Travel Exhibitions believes this growth will have a positive impact on September's event.
The increase in Eastern Mediterranean travel shows that MTF is in the right place at the right time and we feel confident that delegates will reap the rewards of attending the event and visiting this buoyant region.
Egypt in particular has been very focused on improving the quality of its tourism services and visitors are responding positively to this by returning time and time again and encouraging others to visit. Its important for the world's travel industry to learn about these developments and see what this market has to offer.
An example of improvements in servicing is seen in the launch of a mystery shopper programme by the Egyptian Hotels Association in conjunction with the country's Ministry of Tourism, which will ensure hotel rating are accurate and up to date.
Other works currently underway to develop tourism in the country are the improvement of facilities for Egypt's impressive dive sites and the restoration of many places of historical interest, including the world's oldest monastery.
Travel is also expected to increase dramatically due to major improvements of the countryأ¢â‚¬â„¢s airport infrastructure. Luxor airport opened in June of this year and work on the International airport in Cairo will increase passenger capacity by more than double to 20 million by 2007.
