On Tuesday, 15th May, 2012 in Dubai, Six Senses Zighy Bay received three new accolades from the Middle East Hotel Awards and renewed a fourth from the Middle East Spa Awards. The Middle East Spa Awards were held in the morning, honouring the Six Senses Spa as standalone winner of Best Sustainable Initiative, an award also won the year prior. Wellness Manager Steve Harvey accepted the award on behalf of the team, thanking them for their commitment to environmental friendly practices, “We have a rich environment in Oman, and preserving her is fundamental to our philosophy.” General Manager Axel Jarosch added, “The renewal of this title demonstrates we are consistently the Best Sustainable Spa. We are very proud.”
The evening gala of the Middle East Hotel Awards was where the resort really shined, awarded Best Hotel Suite for the 3,000 sqm Private Reserve, aptly named Beit Musandam, followed by Best Restaurant/F&B Outlet for the signature mountain-top restaurant Sense on the Edge and ended the evening with Best Sustainable Initiative, the second of such awards given on the day. Six Senses Zighy Bay was the only winner to sweep all categories for which it was shortlisted. Complementing their recent success at the Middle East World Travel Awards Axel praised the staff, “These awards belong to each and every one of our hosts. We worked together as an exceptional team. We delight our guests and exceed their expectations through creative and memorable experiences. ‘Thank you’ to the profession and expertise of the industry’s judges who have bestowed us with these prestigious honours.”
Each of the judges praised Six Senses Zighy Bay for its unique product and services. When they asked whether the resort will enter the awards again, Axel smiled and responded, “Of course next year we will strive to improve upon our awards. We enjoy a bit of healthy competition.” |
