Filipino national Mely Caunca, who lives in Fulham, south west London, was the lucky winner of the Mega Prize after entering a raffle onboard a Qatar Airways flight to Manila.
Upon collecting her prize at the Business Travel & Meetings Show in London, at which Qatar Airways was a key exhibitor, Ms Caunca declared she would put the money to a good cause.
“I am so delighted to have won this prize and I would like to use the money to help families who suffered when the typhoon hit my home country of the Philippines last year,” said Ms Caunca, who runs a cleaning and maintenance company in London.
“Many of my own relatives and friends were killed by this tragedy, so I would like to help my local community back home. My family and I had been building a chapel in my home town, but had to put it on hold because we had run out of money so I am thrilled that we can now use this money to finish the project.”
Qatar Airways’ Vice President Commercial Europe Paul Johannes, said: “I offer my personal congratulations to Mely. It is great news that she will be able to use the money towards such a good cause and will be able to finish a project that will help an entire community.”
Passengers were given the chance to enter the Qatar Airways’ inflight duty free raffle upon purchase of two or more perfumes. The winner was randomly chosen at a celebration draw at Doha International Airport last month.
In the current issue of Qatar Airways’ Inflight Duty Free magazine, passengers will receive a US$40 shopping voucher if they spend more than US$200 in a single transaction onboard. In addition, members of Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club loyalty programme can earn two Qmiles for every US$1 spent onboard.
Qatar Airways’ inflight duty free offers a wide selection of brands and product categories with an extensive collection of the latest fragrances, cosmetics, watches, jewellery and much more. As it is not possible to provide all products displayed in the Duty Free catalogue onboard at all times, due to space restrictions, Qatar Airways now offers passengers the chance to reserve their choice of Duty Free by pre-ordering at least 72 hours prior to their flight.
Qatar Airways was exhibiting at the two-day Business Travel & Meetings Show in London for the second year running. BTMS 2010 is the leading trade event in Europe for the corporate travel and meetings market. |
