eTN In its plan to stimulate tourism and festivals associated with attracting more tourists, the Yemeni Ministry of Tourism launched the Sana'a Summer Tourism Festival 2007, within the framework of another six great Yemeni tourism and cultural festivals to be held in different cities and parts of the country.
The second Sana'a Summer Tourism Festival is poised to activate tourism movement in Yemen and present the distinguished tourism image of Yemen.
The ministry is seeking to upgrade Sana'a Summer Tourism Festival 2008 along the lines of similar Arab festivals and focusing on the Arab and Gulf markets, as they represent 75 percent of the incoming tourism to Yemen.
Other notable festivals in Yemen:
The Qernow Festival was named to the historical city of Qernow which was the capital of the Ma’een state 200 BC; the importance of the festival is due to heritage, and long historical and tourism features the governorate possesses. The festival is known for races such as car racing, camel racing and horse racing.
The Tourism Baldah Festival, meanwhile, showcases a number of tourists, cultural and commercial activities, in addition to music and concert parties, cultural seminars and a marathon. The festival will be organized from July 19 to 29 in Mukalla city in Hadramaut, south of Yemen.
In Dhamar, the Asa'ad Alkamel Tourism Festival will be staged for the first time. The festival will show the heritage of civilization of Dhamar governorate as one of the main tourism areas in the country. Number of professional meetings and events will be held during this festival, in addition to some other cultural and musical activities that reflect the city specialty.
Lastly, Ibb Tourism Festival will be inaugurated on August 15th in Ibb city. Number of events and activities will be organized by the headship of the Local authority in the Governorate and in collaboration with the Ministry Tourism. These events aim to showcase the heritage of civilization of the Ibb governorate, and promote tourism in the area, in the hope that the governorate can become the tourism capital of Yemen.
