The Empire Hotel and Country Club launched their newly completed conference hall. The hand over ceremony was attended by Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bulqiah binti Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzadin Waddaulah, Guest of Honour, Yang Mulia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew, the Board of Directors of The Empire Hotel and Country Club, officers and staff of Brunei Investment Agency and management and staff of The Empire Hotel and Country Club and invited guests.

The ceremony began with mass Maghrib prayers, followed by mass recital of Surah Yasin and Tahlil together with the recital of ‘Doa Kesyukuran’ and ‘Doa Tolak Bala Influenza A H1N1’. This was then continued with mass Isyak prayers and followed by the handover ceremony. 

The hand over ceremony commenced with the presentation of a ceremonial key from Mr. Maxwell Glover, General Manager of TSL Construction to Yang Mulia Dato Paduka Haji Noordin who then graciously passed it to Yang Mulia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew, Managing Director of Brunei Investment Agency who accepted it on behalf of the owners of The Empire Hotel & Country Club.

Immediately after the handover ceremony, introduction from all principal contractors were made to HRH Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bulqiah binti Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzadin Waddaulah, Yang Mulia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew and invited guests and this was followed by a tour of this magnificent facility. It was then time for the first dinner in the grand hall was served.

The Conference Centre consists of a Grand Ballroom, meeting rooms and open roof deck areas. The Grand Ballroom will be able to seat up to 2,000 guests for a formal dinner, and up to 3000 for cocktail receptions or theatre style seating – positioning the ballroom as Brunei’s premier venue for banquets and conferences. With this conference centre, The Empire Hotel and Country Club will then add approximately 5,270sq m to the hotel’s existing 3,210sq m of meeting and function space.
