Joint cultural projects will be initiated between Italy and Turkey thanks to the contributions of the two countries' culture ministries.
Italian Culture Minister, Giuliano Urbani, visited Turkey recently to see the Italian opera "Cos Fan Tutte" at the 11th International Istanbul Jazz Festival in progress. While in the country the Tourism Ministry Undersecretary Prof. Mustafa Isen discussed the projects. He said the "Cosi Fan Tutte' opera was an example of cultural cooperation between Turkey and Italy. Urbani stated that operas in Venice and Istanbul would be referred to as 'brother operas.' In addition, the Italian Culture Ministry will also contribute to establish a museum, which will display artifacts from the Malatya Aslantepe excavations conducted by Italian archeologists. Another offer from the Italian Culture Ministry is to establish a Mosaic Academia with the participation of Mediterranean countries. Prof. Mustafa Isen said that the government was ready to receive offers for contributions to be presented to the Culture Ministry in the following days. |
