Horse-Riding in Mongolia

web www.equineadventures.co.uk For those who’d like to see if horsemanship really runs in their blood, Equine Adventures offer a 14-day horseback exploration of Mongolia, one of the most spectacular regions of the globe and a rare chance to enter an ancient nomadic world.

After an overnight stay in Ulaanbataar the horseback safari commences  with a gallop across the vast Mongolian plains towards Karakorum, the country’s ancient capital. It is possible to explore the country’s  16th century temples before continuing along the mighty Orkhan River. An exhilarating ride follows, into the Urt Bulag Valley and later to the top of Tuvshin Mountain, where the first religious King of Mongolia, the Ondor Gegeen Zanabazar ruled his mighty empire.

This is followed by a  ride into the heart of the Orkhan Valley where many of Mongolia’s ancient monuments lie - the Cradle of Mongolian civilisation - stopping for a refreshing cup of fermented mare’s milk (‘airag’), the local speciality!

There is a transfer by road through the best scenery Mongolia has to offer to the ‘piece of sand’, a long strip of sand that originates in the Gobi Desert and stretches all the way into the central regions of the country.

The  remains of an ancient monastery  are waiting to be explored during an afternoon hike, before making camp in the foothills of the Khogno Khan Mountain.

Accommodation throughout the safari is provided in dome tents. Mounts are available to suit novice and experienced riders.
