Syria and Lebanon sign executive tourism accord


 


 

www.ArabNews.com Syria and Lebanon on  signed the Executive Program for Tourism Cooperation Accord between them from 2005 to 2007 as to activate tourism.

The agreement which came at the end of the Joint Syrian-Lebanese Tourism Committee, included some steps and articles in the field of circulation and information dissemination in addition to tourism advertisements.

"The agreement urges for qualification, training and exchanging expertise as well as founding joint tourism," a statement by the Ministry of Tourism said.

The joint Syrian-Lebanese committee for Tourism discussed a plan for an integrated tourist project between the two states and building joint information centers on the borders in addition to put executive programs for joint circulation.

Minister of Tourism Sadallah Agha al-Qalaa signed the accord with his Lebanese counterpart Farid al-Khazen.

Prime Minister Naji Otari held talks this morning with al-Khazen during which they agreed that the joint coordination in the field of tourism attraction and marketing were of cornerstones to boost tourism and make use of the Tourism components. They said that encouraging joint investments would bolster integration and back the two states economies.Syria and the United Nations  signed a project amounting $ 400,000 on forming an advisory team to encourage tourist investment in Syria and planning for the Tourist Investment Market Conference due to be held in Syria next April.

The Project aims at supporting the tourism ministry to invest a number of tourist sites in Syria by forming an advisory team that includes a number of international and local experts, and it aims to offer the vocational assistance to prepare for convening an international conference on the tourist investment in Syria.
