Tourism to Syria is Increasing

www.sana.org The Syrian Minister of Tourism announced that the total number of Arab and foreign tourists who came to Syria have increased in 2004 to 6.2 million compared with 4,2 million in 2002.
In a statement published by London-based al-Hayat newspaper on Dr. Saadallah Agha al-Qalaa said that reduction of tourist movement to Europe and the U.S. and tourism factors in Syria like the climate, stability, charming nature, marketing and the archaeological sites are the main reasons behind the increased of tourist movement to Syria.
He also pointed out that tourism in Syria is considered Arab tourism because most of the tourists are from Arab states, noting that they form 78% compared with 22% of foreign tourists. The Minister added that tourism returns increased from 1.4 billion in 2003 to 2.2 billion in 2004. |
