Good relations improving rapidly between Syria and Turkey are reflected in tourism. Syria decided to partake as a ‘guest country' in East Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Fair (EMITT), to be organized in Istanbul between 12th and 15th February 2009 by the Ekin Group.
The Syrian Ministry of Tourism announced that "The visit of Dr Saadallah Aghaa Al Kala, Syria Minister of Tourism, to EMITT 2008 in Istanbul rekindled relations between two countries, which resulted in Syria's decision to become the ‘guest country' of EMITT 2009."
Syria will hold various events oriented towards specialists, consumers and tourists at the fair ground during the EMITT Fair. It is also noted that Syria, with all its attractions, will be presented to Turkish travel agencies and tourists along with other exhibitor countries' representatives. Syria will focus on investment opportunities in the country. It's participation in EMITT Fair as the ‘guest country' is a significant opportunity to further develop the relation between two countries.
Hacer Aydın, Director, EMITT Fair was quoted as saying "Syria's participation in EMITT Fair as the ‘guest country' is the continuation of developments for Turkey to be a tourism centre for the countries in the region. Moreover various events will be held in the fair to be organized between 12th and 15th February."
Another example of developing relations between Syria and Turkey in the field of tourism is Turkey's decision to take part in Arab Travel Borse Fair (ATB), which is an important fair for Middle Eastern countries. It will be organized in Damascus between 22nd and 24th November 2008, in the Ministry level. Ekin Group, on behalf of EMITT Fair, will organize the participation of Turkey in ATB.
Hacer Aydın, General Manager, Ekin Group Fair Organizations says, "We agreed on some special stand fees with ATB's organizer company so more companies can take part in the fair".
