European Exhibitors Double-Up For The Hotel Show
|
|
The Hotel Show, the Middle East's leading supplies exhibition to the region’s burgeoning hospitality and leisure sectors, announced it has already witnessed a two-fold increase in exhibition space for Europe, with Italy, Spain and now Turkey leading the way in a major show of strength.
“Italy, Spain and France have traditionally supported the show and their presence has grown steadily year on year, but we are now seeing countries such as, Turkey and Portugal increasing the size of their stands. Along with debutants, Cyprus and Norway, the total amount of exhibition space for European countries is set to double,†commented Maggie Moore, Exhibition Director, The Hotel Show.
Italian and Spanish companies in particular have forged strong business links over many years with regional developers and hotel professionals, supplying quality marble, ceramics, lighting, white goods, high quality furniture, interior design, high-end textiles and decorative art and France is renowned for its glassware, cutlery and crockery.
Silvia Formentin of Il Vetro dei Dogi, a luxury glass maker based in Venice stated, “We are excited about our participation this year, our creations are made in the ancient tradition of the famous Italian Masters of Murano, many pieces have 24 carat gold leaf melted into the glass, which will appeal to the upper end of the market.
Grant Carmichael, General Manager, of Spanish decorative lighting specialist Grantlamp said, “We have kept a close eye on the market here and decided to exhibit this year for the first time, due to the extraordinary potential the region holds for our range of customised decorative lighting.â€Â
However the new kids on the block, such as Turkey and Portugal are now providing stiff competition and are looking for increased market share. Portugal is now the world’s third largest exporter of high quality textiles and fabrics and Turkish companies renowned for their porcelain, tableware, carpets and rugs are also realising the potential of the buoyant regional markets.
Recorded visitor numbers from Europe have also increased dramatically, “last year we saw a 35% increase over 2004. Many of these visitors came over to conduct market research, as the hospitality and leisure industry throughout the Middle East continues to experience unprecedented growth. Their findings I’m sure have contributed in many ways to the European exhibitor growth trends we have experienced so far this year.†explained Moore
The overall enhanced quality of visitors too has contributed towards the success of the show, last year, Managing Directors and General Managers accounted for over a third of the total visitors, giving exhibitors access to key decision makers, boosting their on-site orders and providing quality sales leads.
The Hotel Show, organised by dmg world media Dubai Ltd one of the region’s leading exhibition companies based in Dubai, is due to take place on June 4-6 2006, at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.
