Latest Infrastructure Developments to Boost Business Events in Sarawak
The influx of business events to the State has encouraged economic growth and development to the State’s infrastructure and facilities. In line with the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP), Sarawak is undergoing numerous infrastructure improvements which will benefit the community. These, in turn, will deliver a beneficial impact on local industry and the growth of Sarawak as a competitive business events destination globally.
Primarily a Sarawak arts and crafts heritage centre, Sarakraf Pavillion recently launched its Homestay and Tribal Lodge with 20 charming rooms, beautifully decorated and furnished with our unique range of crafted décor. Strategically located near the Kuching waterfront, this eco-design lodge is ideal for both the leisure and business traveller. The hotel welcomes out-of-state voyagers with genuine Sarawak handicrafts: tribal motifs, wooden carvings and other local arts, with craftspeople demonstrating how it’s done. Offering a mix of private and dormitory style rooms, sleepyheads can relax amidst soft duvets and calming sepia-toned rooms before waking up to complimentary handicraft lessons and Halal breakfasts. Sarakraf Pavilion Homestay and Tribal Lodge can accommodate up to 400 guests (theatre seating) for events. The Ranee is an exclusive boutique hotel situated along the famed waterfront. Offering 24 suites, each with its own individual character and design, The Ranee overlooks the bazaar, river and the colonial heritage buildings. Much of its design uses natural air circulation and lighting, with elements that ensure guests can enjoy a serene and peaceful stay. Finally, the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) has recently announced the construction of a new RM60 million Majestic Tower Hotel that is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2014. Located next to the present Riverside Majestic Hotel, this 263-bed hotel will provide excellent value for money to travellers. For more information, please visit http://www.sedc.com.my/.
SEDC is also currently upgrading its existing properties: the Damai Golf & Country Club to be completed by June 2013; Damai Beach Resort to be completed by the third quarter of 2013 and will be undertaking the ‘Golden Bridge’ project- a pedestrian bridge linking Kuching Waterfront to the iconic Dewan Undangan Negeri building. These projects, once completed, will provide additional pre- and post-tour options for convention delegates visiting Kuching, not to mention additional choice of accommodation to cater to various budgets. |
