www.tehrantimes.com Despite the existence of a large number of dams in different parts of Iran, their potentials for attracting tourists to the country were never considered seriously. Therefore, the authorities of Iran’s Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization (CHTO) with the cooperation of the Ministry of Energy are determined to develop the tourism industry in the areas close to some major dams in the country.
According to the director of CHTO’s Tourism Committee, the organization is planning to introduce tourism projects in dam regions and submit them to the Ministry of Energy.
Some meetings have also been held in this regard with the authorities of Forest and Range Organization for conferring on the ways to develop the tourism industry in dam areas. It was decided that the programs which will be devised by ICHTO and the Ministry of Energy in these areas must be in line with the dam’s usage, and whether it has a drinking or agricultural usage would have an effect on the Organization’s planning.
“Developing the tourism industry in dam areas would have a direct effect on the country’s tourism industry as a whole,” said Rasul Zargar, deputy director of Ministry of Energy for water affairs.
Zargar also announced the readiness of the Ministry of Energy for any kind of cooperation with CHTO including investment in this project as soon as the Ministry receives the list of the dams which have been considered for this project. |
