Amman-Motaz Othman
The Marketing Task (MT) of the Special Council of Aqaba Economic Region held a number of lectures and promotions, the most important of which is dedicated to the topic of tourism. Aqaba is included in every tourism program by the Tourism Ministry aiming at bringing more visitors to Jordan. The conference was attended by major investors in the tourism sector and a number of tour operators and travel agents, as well as the Board of Tourism Promotion; represented by its active new director Mr. Mazin Al-Hamoud, who has been appointed recently. We wish him every success.
There was a review of the new investments in tourism projects, such as Tala Bay, which has a front extending for 2 km. It will include hotels of different stars, flats, a marina which can accommodate 60 boats and many other facilities.
The vital role of this project within the development of Aqaba for tourism has been explained. It is worth mentioning that the Jordan Company for Tourism Development projects is the owner of this project. It also has a contract to rent the Royal Diving Club and promote diving with the help of experts.
The Eila Oasis, which is owned and managed by the Saudi Astra Company, has been discussed. The project on the western side of Aqaba City is going to be established on 4,300 hectares. It will include a huge tourism and entertainment resort. Although the front of this project is narrow, the design by conglomerate international companies, shown to the audience, will provide wide waterfronts on the dry land.
Mr. Ghassan Naser, acting head of tourism at the Aqaba Authority, presented a full picture of the marketing strategies which the authority is going to follow in order to attract tourists, with special attention paid to European tourists. Finally, Mr. Ahmad Humadh, a marketing and publicity consultant working with the Aqaba Authority, presented a summary of the future marketing plan. He emphasized the assets of Aqaba from the point of view of tourism and the diversity of its products.
Islamic Tourism took part in all these lectures and conferences and we can only praise the high standard of professionalism shown by MT. |
