www.gulftimes.com Hilton Hotels said it will open four new properties in Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon within the next two years.
Its first Lebanon property in Beirut is set to open later this year with 162 rooms.
The refurbished Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa in Egypt will re-open in the first quarter of 2008 with 235 rooms.
It plans to open its Jordan properties in Amman and Aqaba opening in the first and second quarters of 2009.
"We are exploring a number of other opportunities as well," Simon Hasdell, vice-president of operations, Hilton Hotels, Egypt, Lebanon & Jordan, said in statement. Hilton has a total signed pipeline of 11 properties in the Middle East, and a development goal of an additional 20 new signings over the next five years.
The company has 19 hotels in Egypt and they recorded 70 per cent occupancy, Hilton said.
Hilton Egypt saw revenues rise eight per cent year on year for the first quarter.
Revenue per available room increased by 10 per cent, and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation by 20 per cent in the first quarter of this year compared with the same period last year, the company said, without giving any figures or providing further financial details. |
