Jordan Kuwait Bank and Royal Jordanian launches a MasterCard credit card

Jordan Kuwait Bank (JKB), and Royal Jordanian today announced the signing of a new marketing alliance agreement by which the two parties launched ‘Fly and Plus’, a co-branded MasterCard credit card. .

The agreement was signed at the bank’s Headquarters in Amman, Jordan, by Abdul Karim Al Kabariti, Chairman, Jordan Kuwait Bank, and Hussein Dabbas, President and CEO, Royal Jordanian. The ceremony was also attended by Denzil Lawson, General Manager, Middle East and Levant, MasterCard Worldwide, Basel Eltell, Vice President and Regional Manager, Levant, MasterCard Worldwide, and "Moh’d Yaser" Al-Asmar, General Manager of Jordan Kuwait Bank and by officials from both RJ and JKB.

Fly and Plus MasterCard cardholders are able to add points to their Royal Jordanian Frequent Flyer Program (Royal Plus), whether they are travelling onboard Royal Jordanian or any of the other ten members of the global aviation alliance (oneworld). JKB’s clients who use their Fly and Plus MasterCard credit card will receive one point for every ten Jordanian Dinars they spend on local and international transactions. New Fly and Plus MasterCard cardholders will automatically receive 100 Royal Plus points upon joining the program and receiving their new cards.

Al Kabariti expressed his pleasure to work with Royal Jordanian in its capacity as the national carrier of Jordan and a leading company with a global prestigious reputation in the field of air transport industry.

He stressed that the launch of this co-branded MasterCard credit card will contribute to increasing awareness of the Royal Jordanian’s Royal Plus Program, and to encouraging travel on its planes.

"Signing this agreement and collaborating with MasterCard is in line with JKB’s commitment to support its clients and open up new opportunities for them to benefit from the credit cards they hold, which will provide them with value added quality and distinctive banking services that they enjoy in everyday interactions with Jordan Kuwait Bank," Al Kabariti said.

Al Kabariti pointed out that launching this card reflects the close and fruitful cooperation between Royal Jordanian and Jordan Kuwait Bank in various banking and financial fields.

Dabbas expressed Royal Jordanian’s pleasure to conclude this agreement with one of the most efficient and well developed Jordanian banks, noting that launching the card will enhance the privileges granted by Royal Jordanian to its passengers- members of the frequent flyer program, and enhance the positive relations between the Jordan Kuwait Bank and its clients.

He expressed that the Royal Plus frequent flyer program was established by Royal Jordanian in 1984, and witnessed large interest in demand for membership, with the number of members rising from approximately 30 thousand members in 2003 to more than 180 thousand members at the present time, pointing out that the program offers its members many services and privileges, mainly the use of private lounges to business class passengers in the Queen Alia International Airport and in the lounges of the oneworld global alliance member airlines amounting to more than 550 lounges found in airports around the world.

"Among other privileges of the Royal Plus Program is the ability to redeem points accumulated by the passenger’s trips with the Royal Jordanian and its allied members of the oneworld global alliance and purchases through the use of Fly and Plus MasterCard card. Other benefits that cardholders can acquire with the earned points include increased baggage weight allowance and the opportunity to get an upgrade to Crown Calss and free tickets on Royal Jordanian or its allied companies," Dabbas added.

Dabbas expressed confidence that the partnership with Jordan Kuwait Bank shall enrich the program and increase the number of members who would enjoy great privileges for this membership.

Denzil Lawson, general manager, Middle East and Levant, MasterCard Worldwide said: “MasterCard is the best card for travel. Thanks to our extensive global and regional research findings on travel and tourism trends MasterCard understands the needs of both the business and leisure traveler.  In collaboration with customer banks like Jordan Kuwait Bank, we develop market-leading and standards-setting bespoke payment products that incorporate a wide range of value-added benefits to enhance the traveling experience while elevating the satisfaction and loyalty levels of travelers.”

“When people from the region travel abroad or across the Middle East on business or leisure they need a flexible, convenient and an always-available payment method that is designed to cater to their discerning and individual needs,” said Basel Eltell, vice president and regional manager, Levant, MasterCard Worldwide. “MasterCard provides innovative payment solutions which meet travelers’ needs and expectations, while granting them peace of mind wherever they travel around the world.”
