IRNA Representatives of tour and travel agencies from Iran and Jordan exchanged views on ways of expanding their cooperation in the field of tourism, particularly the exchange of pilgrims to religious sites.
A report released by the public relations department of Jordan's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said that Jordanian Tourism Ministry Director General Sultan Abu-Jaber and representatives of a number of Iranian tour agencies discussed the dispatch of Iranian tourist delegations to Jordan.
Participants in the meeting also examined measures to facilitate establishment of a direct air link between Tehran and Amman.
They also discussed ways of boosting visits by Iranian religious tourists to Jordan, easing of travel formalities and arrangements for their stay, including accommodation.
According to a decision taken in the meeting, the visiting Iranian delegation will be given a tour of Jordan's religious centers, in particular the ‘Mazar’ area, so they can acquaint themselves with the country's religious and other tourism facilities.
On the other hand, the Jordanian delegation presented Iran's tour representatives with travel brochures in the Persian language to introduce them to Jordan's tourism market and tourist attractions.
Jordan has a number of religious centers in addition to its historical monuments and sites.
The mausoleum of Imam Ali's brother, Jafar ibn-e abi-Taleb, otherwise known as Jafar Tayyar, in the city of Karak is one of the notable religious sites in Jordan. |
