Eldorado for shopping, dining, wellness and service non-stop
At Munich Airport, a new dimension of shopping, relaxing and culinary delights await passengers 365 days a year, from early in the morning until late in the evening.
At the airport, passengers and shopping enthusiasts will find an extensive variety of wares from duty free articles, electronics, fashion and accessories to trendy gift items. A mixture of local, national and international brands are available in about 180 shops. Stores and restaurants are located in both the public and non-public areas of the airport.
Approximately 40 unique restaurants and bars at Munich Airport offer a variety of food and drinks for everyone's taste and budget. For example, there is the airport version of Munich's famous Hofbräuhaus or the Il mondo - a first class Italian restaurant with an amazing view on the aircraft operations at the apron. Mangostin Restaurant with its high quality teak floors and Asian accents coupled with a view of the bustling check-in hall, offers Thai and Sushi dishes. The world's only airport brewery "Airbraeu" with an outdoor beer garden is another highlight not to be missed. As the latest addition to the array of 40 restaurants and eateries run by Munich Airport, Bistro Organic provides a "mini retreat" from the hustle and bustle of airport rush hour offering large aquarium-like displays and a calming décor featuring earthy greens, browns and terra cotta. Passengers can treat themselves to wellness drinks and healthy snacks.
But it is not all about shopping and dining - Munich is the only airport at which the famous Brants Barber & Shop opened its doors. Here the male business traveler can indulge in a retreat from stress and bustling activity. One can also escape to luxury in the brand new "Cosmetic Institute Munich Airport". The Cosmetic Institute is an elegant Beauty Lounge with a pure spa-like décor waiting to pamper discerning customers. Who doesn't wish for rest and relaxation between flights? Munich Airport has the solution. Travelers will find two napcabs near gate 32 in Terminal 2. These cabins offer passengers the room to rest and are equipped with a comfortable couch, relaxing music, a workstation with Internet access, electrical connection and a flat screen TV.
Conveniently located between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, passengers find Kempinski's exclusive health club and spa "Fit & Fly Spa" - offering day passes.
Other services await travelers near the gates such as a traditional shoeshine boy or a relaxing massage service near the gates of Terminal 2. General service centers are open 24-hours to serve the passengers as well as a special service for VIP passengers.
Internet points, wireless LAN access, a kindergarden and baby changing facilities are just some of the airport's service offers.
A ramp direct service offers delayed transfer passengers a direct shuttle transport to their connecting flight. And last but not least - upon request - well trained staff assist travelers personally upon arrival or departure. This is Munich Airport's so-called Meet & Assist Service. "Service non-stop" has become Munich Airport's advertising slogan - and the Skytrax award for being the "Best Airport in Europe 2008" acknowledges the airport's efforts in giving best service to its clients - the passengers.
There is so much to do while waiting for a connection
Stop-overs under three hours are perfect for a relaxing massage, a barber's shop visit, a walk to the visitors' terrace via the "sky walk", or a typical Bavarian meal at the world's only airport brewery with its adjoining beer garden. Munich Airport´s Visitors Park, just a three-minute bus or train ride away from the terminals (the "Besucherpark" train stop), is the best place for passengers to enjoy some fresh air, exercise and serious plane-spotting. The new 18-hole mini-golf course at the airport's visitor park is another fun, leisure activity.
If the stopover is longer than three hours, passengers can visit, for example, the Kempinski Spa & Health Club right next to the terminals, the ancient town of Freising with the world's oldest brewery and the historic cathedral hill, or the Royal Palaces in Oberschleissheim with the nearby historic aviation museum.
A relaxed visit to the city center of Munich is recommended with a stop-over time of more than five hours.
The airport's service centers and information counters are happy to help transferring passengers with any questions.
