Motaz Othman / Berlin
Back in 2003, Mr. Shakiry the publisher of Islamic Tourism Magazine asked me to find a good accommodation for three persons in Berlin to attend the ITB, he also asked the same to my colleague from Egypt Mr. Mounir.
After checking in the internet for reasonable prices, I found Generator Hostel Berlin offering a single room for EURO 30.00 per night, after checking the website http://www.generatorhostels.com/ I informed my publisher about it and about the rates, my colleague Mounir suggested another Hotel which was for EUR 130.00 per person per night but we decided to make the reservation in the Generator and we did.
In fact we didn't know before anything about Generator, when we checked in, we were welcomed by a very warm welcome from the staff in the reception, we took our rooms and saw very clean rooms, with its white bed covers and pillow. During our 5 days stay, we witnessed how the staff are taking very good care of cleaning. In the morning you can enjoy a healthy breakfast which is included in the price, for your dinner there is a daily menu for 5 EURO only which is rich and fresh and has a good taste and done by the chef in Generator.
More facilities in the Generator, is the computer room which allow you to work and to connect to a high speed internet for a very reasonable price, you can also get a reduced phone card to make your international calls. In the computer room you can collect printed materials for all the events that goes in Berlin.
More, from the Generator Berlin, you can join the free walking tour at 10:15 am, you can hire a bicycle and join the tour in Berlin, at night you can also join the night tour.
A safe boxes in different sizes is available for only One Euro. An iron and dry cleaning room is also available for free. Also a cash point to get money from the machines.
At night and every night at Generator you can enjoy the daily party and music that attract the guests from all over the world.
The good location of Generator Berlin helps you also for excellent connections, as its facing Landsberger Allee station where you can take the S41 and S42 to reach to any place in Berlin with direct 15 minutes train to the ICC where ITB is being held.
After my stay in 2003, I consider The Generator as my second home in Berlin, where I stayed during my 5 years visits to ITB in the Generator.
One funny thing happened to me, is that when I made the reservation in 2004, the computer gave me a price for 12 EURO per night, and also offered me One day free. After arriving and collecting my key, I found that the room has 8 beds, so I said I will try and I really felt that the guests who are sharing the room are very clean and educated, and that was my first time to share a room with others, but it was very good experience and from 2004 till now, I was staying in sharing rooms.
I remember also, that in 2005 and during my trip from Frankfurt to Berlin, I met in the train with a Tour Operator from Pakistan, his name is Mr. Amjad, he asked where I'm staying, I informed him about Generator and about how clean and nice, he came with me and he introduced the Generator to more that 12 tour operators who stayed also here, and always they are thanking me to introduce the Generator for them.
I also stayed in Generator London during my visit to the WTM, which is located in center of London in Russell Square and I saw that a huge renovation is talking place to offer an excellent services for the guests, Mr. Erik the Managing Director of Generator Berlin informed me that the renovation in London will be completed in May 2009 and the budget is around 3 Million Sterling Pounds.
Here in the Generator you can feel very safe, and stay in a very clean Hostel, also you can make very good friendships with the guests.
Last, I told my wife about the Generator and how clean and funny, she didn't believe me and I decided to invite her to come and to see by herself, and its my pleasure to invite all my friends and readers to experience the Generator hospitality in Berlin or in London.
