Several important anniversaries are taking place in the German capital in 2010, including the sixtieth anniversary of the Berlin International Film Festival, the two hundredth anniversary of the opening of Humboldt-Universität, and the three hundred year jubilee of Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin. A trip to Berlin for these and other highlights is now more affordable than ever with the new tourist packages from Berlin Tourismus Marketing GmbH.The package "Berlin Individuell", starting at 64 euros, provides the ideal basis for an unforgettable stay in Berlin.
Historical, scientific, or with a touch of glitter and glamour - Berlin offers an unrivalled diversity of activities with around 1,500 events of various kinds scheduled every day. In February, for example, it?s curtains up for the 60th Berlinale.
Fashion shows, an art festival, dance, theater and music: Berlin has much to offer this winter, too. With highlights such as the 26th Extended Museum Night or the exhibition for the two hundredth anniversary of the death of Queen Luise of Prussia, the city comes through once more during the cold months of the year with distinctive offerings. The metropolis will also bask in the radiance and glamour of the Berlinale, which is celebrating its sixtieth birthday.
Good news for gourmets: in its latest issue, the Michelin Guide has awarded a total of thirteen gourmet stars to restaurants in Berlin. The capital has thus succeeded in maintaining its status as a top-notch city for fine cuisine. The absolute front-runner remains Christian Lohse, chef of the restaurant Fischers Fritz in the hotel The Regent at the Gendarmenmarkt, who retains his two Michelin stars.
The tourism industry will be introduced to the latest travel trends and new tourist offerings - ranging from culture and shopping to the most modern hotel scene in Europe - at the Pow Wow Berlin-Brandenburg from February 5 to 7, 2010. In the coming year, this well-known workshop for the travel sector will be celebrating its tenth anniversary, and the gathering will be organized jointly on this occasion by Berlin Tourismus Marketing GmbH (BTM) and Tourismus Marketing Brandenburg (TMB).
Colorful paintings with tragic subjects: the works of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo are both fascinating and dismaying. She was able to combine the dazzling culture of her native country with her own traumatic experiences better than any other artist in the first half of the twentieth century. Beginning on April 30, 2010, around 120 paintings and drawings by the artist will be shown in the Martin Gropius Bau in Berlin. In addition, at "Frida Kahlo - Retrospective", Kahlo's last work will be on public display for the first time. The exhibition runs through August 9, 2010. |
