In truth, the winter days are just far too short to take in all the possible activities available in Berlin during the season, whether it’s being enchanted by the ‘Nutcracker Suite’ at the Berlin State Ballet, getting red-cheeked whilst browsing through the Christmas markets or careering down a toboggan slope against a panoramic view of the city.
Highlights 2011
In the coming year, Berlin will be the host for the third time to an exhibition in international cooperation with New York. After the “MOMA in Berlin” and “The Most Beautiful French from New York”, it will be the turn of “Faces of the Renaissance” at the Bode Museum on Museum Island, beginning August 25, 2011.
World city entices with “World Knowledge”
Visitors to the Martin-Gropius-Bau can now embark on a journey back in time through 300 years of Berlin´s scientific history. This is the treat in store with the new exhibition “World Knowledge”. It is the highlight of the Berlin Year of Science 2010. A total of 1,569 exhibits including Albert Einstein’s notes on the theory of relativity and writings by the brothers Grimm are on display.
New Hotels in Berlin
Nordic design, New York luxury brands, or a long-term living room – numerous new establishments will be enriching Berlin’s hotel landscape in upcoming months. October 2010 marks the opening of the latest Scandic Group hotel at the Potsdamer Platz, the “nhow” at Osthafen is to open its doors in November 2010 and the Waldorf Astoria at the end of 2011.

New party series: Kids Want Cookies
The vegetarian restaurant Cookies Cream in Berlin-Mitte was legendary even before its doors opened; it is a spin-off of the club Cookies just off Friedrichstrasse, which has long been a staple of Berlin nightlife. Nowadays many of the former clubbers have grown up and had kids, leaving them a bit strapped for time. The organizers of the new party series “Kids Want Cookies” are catering to just this clientele |
