In 1969, the Seehotel am Timmendorfer Strand laid the cornerstone of Maritim’s success when it came up with an unusual business idea. “Daytime business and overnight accommodation under one roof” was the name of this concept – unique at the time – which soon met with a great deal of interest among companies and associations at other locations too. Ideal conditions for robust growth.
Gerd Prochaska, Director of Maritim Hotels, reports: “Since its establishment 42 years ago, the Maritim Hotel Group has managed to take up a leading position in this industry in Europe. Today, our company has 51 hotels with more than 15,000 rooms, including hotels in countries such as Mauritius, Egypt, Turkey, Malta, Spain, China and Latvia. However, the focus of our activities remains Germany, where we are represented in all the major cities – from Hamburg to Berlin and from Cologne to Munich, via Frankfurt and Stuttgart.”
Location, location, location.
Maritim’s preferred locations are not limited to the well known major cities. The group is also represented in smaller towns with a particularly attractive natural or historical environment. Apart from excellent conference facilities, every hotel also offers a number of regional leisure programmes with cultural, sports and culinary highlights.
The Maritim premium hotel concept is mainly aimed at business and conference travellers, but the hotels all have one thing in common: their excellent location in dynamic industrial and cultural centres. An example is the first-class hotel with 328 rooms that opened five years ago in 2006 on the banks of the river Elbe in Dresden, in the immediate proximity of the city centre – the historical “Erlweinspeicher”. The adjoining international congress centre can accommodate up to 6000 people and is also operated by Maritim.
XXL-format capacity and skills
Maritim’s declared strength lies mainly in its excellent conference-organising skills. It is not by chance that the company has become the largest private specialist in conferences and events in Germany. No other service provider has such capacity, in terms of both space and organisation, to hold complex major events.
North Rhine-Westphalia’s largest conference hotel is located in Duesseldorf, within the new Airport City, with direct access to the airport terminal. This representative Maritim Hotel with its 533 rooms was completed in 2007 and offers space for up to 3,600 persons in its two largest halls. To this are added another 1,400 spaces in the events area as a whole, including 31 conference rooms and suites.
It is in North Rhine-Westphalia in particular that Maritim has extended its portfolio in the very successful airport and city hotel sector in recent years. The company’s target locations in the vicinity of airports and main railway stations play an important role. Easy accessibility has turned out to be an attractive advantage, highly prized by business travellers in particular.
Maritim works everywhere
It is not necessary to check into a Maritim hotel to experience Maritim’s quality standards for conferences and events. The Maritim Event and Catering Service, MECS, makes it possible to hold meetings of all kinds and sizes in any location. “Whether you want to hold an open-air corporate event, meet with customers in a stylish environment or organise a conference on your own premises, the creative Maritim service team can do it all according to your requirements,” explains Gerd Prochaska. “This includes finding a suitable venue for the event, planning and implementing it, the decorations and, of course, cooking and serving the food. We want the host to feel like a guest at his own event, enabling him to relax completely and to trust in our experience and reliability.”
Good to know: the MECS service programme can be booked at any of the group’s 32 venues in Germany. |
