www.nst.com Kuala Lumpur’s eclectic scenes, lifestyles, traditions, cultures and heady mix of colours and aromas will once again be portrayed in Passport to Kuala Lumpur, a handy-sized travel guide book published by the Kuala Lumpur Tourist Association (KLTA).
This fourth edition palm-sized guidebook will be published towards the end of 2005 and will come with the city maps and listings of telephone numbers, hotels, airlines, travel agencies, restaurants, shopping complexes, entertainment venues, sports and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) venues and other establishments.
There will also be interesting features on Kuala Lumpur, its history, heritage and must-see sights, shopping, dining and entertainment, festivals and traditional pastimes, as well as focus on sports tourism, health tourism, education tourism and other tourism-related sectors. There will also be a section on useful and quick information for tourists pertaining to issues from visa application to foreign exchange and even a segment on useful Malay phrases. The colourful book of 200-odd pages will be highly informative and an indispensable guide for tourists who plan to explore the city.
KLTA executive council member and Passport to Kuala Lumpur managing consultant Datin Fareedah Pam invites establishments in the city to tap the potential of the book. She said various packages to support the publication are available and these include advertorials and listings.
KLTA, a non-governmental organisation, is dedicated to promoting Kuala Lumpur as a premier destination in the region. The publication of Passport to Kuala Lumpur is one of its many promotional activities. The book was first published in 2000. In addition to its English-language editions, it has also released both Arabic and Chinese editions to cater to these increasingly important markets. The book is endorsed and supported by Tourism Malaysia and Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur. The book will carry messages of support from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and KL Mayor Datuk Ruslin Hassan, who is also the patron of KLTA.
Priced at RM22 each, the book will be distributed through major bookstores, Tourism Malaysia’s overseas and local offices, and via Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur’s distribution channels as well as at several major conferences and exhibitions in the country.
