IRNA Malaysian Ambassador to Tehran Munshe Afdzaruddin conferred with Deputy Head of Iran's Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization (ICHTO) Ali Hashemi on expansion of mutual cooperation between the two countries.
At the meeting, Hashemi called for implementation of the MOU on promoting tourism which was signed earlier by the two countries.
The MOU underlines various fields of cooperation such as exchange of tourists, cooperation among private sectors, cooperation under the framework of World Tourism Organization (WTO), exchange of statistics information and promotional materials, rules and regulations on joint investment as well as supporting the two sides' private sectors.
An increase in the number of flights between Iran and Malaysia will lead to expansion of the tourism industry in both countries, he said.
He said Malaysian Hajj pilgrims can re-route their trips via Iran or have a short (two or three-day) stopover in the country. The two sides are also seeking to draw up preliminary measures to form a jointly-run committee to promote tourism industry in both countries, he noted. |
