www.nst.com Malaysia is on the right track to receive the targeted 20.1 million visitors for Visit Malaysia Year 2007, based on the number of tourists till May 10.
Deputy Tourism Minister Datuk Donald Lim says the Immigration Department’s figures show that till May 10, some 8.9 million visitors came to Malaysia.
“This is really good news because we know we are on the right track and are confident of achieving the 20.1 million arrivals target. This means we will receive some RM44.5 billion in tourist receipts.”
Lim was speaking at the worldwide launch of Inside Guides brand new Insight City Guide Kuala Lumpur which will have its first print run of some 15,000 copies.
“From a survey conducted in South-eastern part of China, Malaysia is one of the top 10 destinations in this region and in another survey done by a magazine in New York, Malaysia has emerged as the best value for money destination.
“Books such as The Insight City Guide Kuala Lumpur is a good way to raise Malaysia’s profile as it will be distributed to many countries,” he said.
He said the Ministry will hold discussions with the publisher to have it distributed at all Tourism Malaysia offices here and abroad.
