Cumulatively, tourist arrivals recorded from January to March 2009 were 5,460,184, representing an increase of 2.2% compared to 5,342,291 for the same period in 2008.

The top ten tourist generating markets for March 2009 were Singapore (1,086,360), Indonesia (180,644), Thailand (129,224), Brunei (114,626), China (including Hong Kong & Macau) (85,582), India (38,499), the Philippines (36,744), Japan (35,186), Australia (34,587) and United Kingdom (34,529).
For the month of March 2009, double digit growth was recorded for tourist arrivals from Brunei (61.8%), Iran (47.4%), Singapore (23.1%), the Philippines (20.4%), Cambodia (20%), Saudi Arabia
