Plaza de Trascorrales will hold the welcome reception that the City of Oviedo (Spain) will offer to MITM Euromed attendees, next September 28th. The celebration of this important event for business tourism in the Asturian capital, came out from an agreement between the City of Oviedo and the trade show’s organizing company (GSAR Marketing), as part of the promotion plan made by Oviedo Convention Bureau and Club de Empresas Oviedo Congresos (Oviedo’s Congress Corporate Club).
Plaza de Trascorrales, in Oviedo’s historic downtown, is a building with elements from the “iron architecture” that in the old times occupied the city’s fish market and that, once rehabilitated, nowadays it is used for protocol events of the city. The welcome reception will be served by Deloya Restaurant.
All catering services for MITM Euromed functions have been contracted by companies belonging to the Club Oviedo Congresos, and, each one in its own range and format, have the goal of showing to MITM Euromed attendees Asturias’ gastronomy excellence.
Deloya is a relatively new restaurant in the city, manager Javier Deloya, member of a family with great tradition in Asturias gastronomy, it is located in the Salinas Spa. The restaurant has one star in the Michelin Guide and it stands out as one of the maximum exponents of the Oviedo new cuisine. Its cuisine is creative, tasty and demanding.
During the working session on September 29th, MITM’s attendees will have coffee breaks offered by Canela en Rama, served in Príncipe Felipe Oviedo Congress Center.
Canela en Rama is a catering company run by the young and reputed chef Sergio Rama, who is also the kitchen chef of La Puerta Nueva Restaurant. Sergio Rama’s work can be defined as a mix of good products, a vanguardist touch and special care in its elaboration and presentation, with big success in tasting menus, company meals and local, national and international caterings.
MITM’s lunch will also be served in Príncipe Felipe Congress Center, at the 3rd floor restaurant, provided by another catering company: Malena, a company with more than 10 years experience in catering, developed in high level personalized menus, which are served in events organized by institutions as well as private companies.
Finally, the closing dinner will be served in De Labra Restaurant, located in Oviedo’s city limit, in a property with a historical wall and century old trees that the first owner brought from America. The complex has a cocktail bar with chill-out atmosphere and rooms with direct access to the gardens. Among its specialities it is live Japanese style in “tepanyaki”, without forgetting Asturian and Spanish cuisine, with a season’s products menus.
Because of corporate social responsibility and, as it has been done in some of the catering services offered by The Oficina Municipal de Congresos de Oviedo (Oviedo Convention Bureau) and the Club Oviedo Congresos have agreed to give the food and beverage not used as a social donation, in this case to the Economy Kitchen of Oviedo.
Economy Kitchen of Oviedo is a social dining room of great tradition in the city. Created in 1888, this institution is managed by the Charity Sisters and Works with over one hundred volunteers, offering lunches and dinners to poor people. Last year it provided 75.000 meals, a number that is increasing because of the actual crisis. Economy Kitchen of Oviedo has a great support from public institutions and organisms, corporations and Oviedo citizens.
