www.cems.com.sg Qingdao International Tourism Expo 2005 has set its sight to make a definitive impact on the travel and tourism industry within China and around the world with its inaugural presentation.
To be held from 13 to 16 June 2005 at the Qingdao International Convention Centre, the inaugural presentation is jointly organized by Qingdao Tourism Administration (QTA) and Qingdao International Exhibition & Trade Co. Ltd (QIET) with Conference & Exhibition Management Services Pte Ltd as the International Event Manager.
Qingdao is known as a significant economic hub and port city focused on port, manufacturing, ocean research and development and tourism activities. It is the only other Chinese city within China to host the coming 2008 Olympics water sports. In 2004, Qingdao has hit a GDP income of 9.6%. The number of tourists travelling inbound to Qingdao reached a promising figure of 500,000 tourists whilst domestic tourist is recorded at 20 million. Besides drawing in inbound travellers, Qingdao has also contributed to 950,000 outbound travellers and it is ranked 7th in the list of cities of outbound travelers from China
QITE 2005 has received keen participation from 120 international and local companies from the travel and tourism industry. Over 30 international tourism organization have also shown their support for the show with their participation including Germany Tourism Board, Iceland Tourism Office, Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, Hawaii Tourism Authority, Romanian National Tourism office, Turkish Embassy Culture and Information Section, Finnish Tourist Board and many more.
One of the main highlights during QITE 2005 will be a discussion session on the cooperation of tourism businesses. Some 200 guests consisting of overseas media and representatives from international travel associations, tourism board and travel agencies have been officially invited by the Qingdao Municipal Government and Qingdao Tourism Administration to attend the session to share their views and opinions.
The Pre-Scheduled Appointments (PSA) programme will be taking the center stage at QITE 2005 by providing an efficient and effective empowerment tool to both the visitors and exhibitors. It is one of the value-added services under the Hosted Buyer Programme to which 87 international hosted buyers and trade visitors have already registered.
QITE 2005 will pave the way to yet another vital link with opportunities and for global travel for the Chinese and to the rest of the world.
