U.S. Jumps In To Capture Big Spending Chinese Outbound Tourists


 


 travelpress.biz Texas is off to China and so is Florida, along with dozens of other proactive tourism offices, tour operators, hotels, resorts and providers of travel from around the globe to participate at the Beijing International Travel and Tourism Market (BITTM) 2006.

Recently, the China Daily newspaper reported results of an Australian market research study that
revealed a strong preference among Chinese tourists to travel to the USA, France and Australia. With Chinese tourists ranking second as the highest spenders in the world, spending on average $175 per day per person when abroad, which is remarkably four times what the Japanese traveller spends, sellers of travel are keen to target this lucrative emerging market.

Texas, famous for vast cattle ranches and oil, boasts 267,000 square miles of wide-open spaces, vibrant cities, over 900 golf courses and an abundance of natural wonders, including scenic canyons, dense forests, mysterious caverns, and undisturbed beaches. With so much to see, Texas is poised to become a prime destination for the Chinese outbound tourist industry. By exhibiting at BITTM, Texas will ensure that Chinese travel trade are fully aware of what the Lone Star State has to offer.

Julie Chase, Director of Tourism, Texas Tourism, said, “China is an important emerging market for Texas Tourism. We are excited by the opportunity to meet outbound Chinese travel professionals at BITTM and market Texas.â€Â

Florida is a major destination for tourists across the globe. With a diverse range of attractions, including Disney World, the Everglades, great beaches, and fabulous weather year round, Florida is a destination Chinese holidaymakers will flock to in large numbers.

Bud Nocera, CEO of Visit Florida, said, “Visit Florida recognizes China as one of Florida’s most promising future markets of visitor origin. Through research and Florida tourism industry input, we made the easy decision to attend BITTM to promote our unique destination to Chinese tour operators.â€Â

BITTM, featured this week in a USA Today article outlining US interest in this massive market, is strictly a 100% outbound, 100% business-to-business event where sellers of travel products can meet one-on-one with qualified Chinese outbound buyers of travel. BITTM 2006 is being held April 3-5 in Beijing and as the leading business-to-business event, provides the essential link between the rapid development of the Chinese travel industry and the global travel and tourism industry.
