Since the second half of 2009, numbers of outbound travelers from China and Hong Kong have been rising. With growing economies and employments, prospects this year look good.
1) In 2009, China’s outbound is estimated to rise 3.6% to 47.5 million, and long haul market like USA also saw 4% more arrivals (0.493 million) from China.
2) In Hong Kong, outbound tours during the coming Chinese New Year, including luxury ones pricing at around HK$25000 and even HK$100000; are selling well and overall bookings will rise by 10% to 20% despite double digits price increase!
Though part of China, holders of Hong Kong passport can visit 140 countries and regions in the world including many in Middle East, without visa. From statistics by UNWTO, Hong Kong ranked fourth in Asia by international tourism expenditure and in average, each Hong Kong people made over 10 departures per year. The city is an interesting and substantial market.
The coming ITE & MICE will be held from 10 – 13 Jun 2010 at Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.
